Bargaining teams for the School Board and SC/TA reached tentative agreement on these proposed changes to contract language and salary earlier this month. The memberships of the Association are in the process of ratifying the proposed agreements now.

The District and SC/TA teams have held extensive meetings resulting in supplement reductions at all levels (elementary, middle and high school)

All levels of substitute teacher pay are being reduced.

The proposed salary schedules for 2009-2010 reflect no changes except for a few increases to hourly rates to comply with the Florida minimum hourly wage of $7.25.  Also included is an eleven-month Assistant Principal salary schedule.

The parties agree to re-open salary negotiations for the 2009 – 2010 school year should any of the following conditions be met:

   1. the State of Florida Department of Education not receive the proposed federal stabilization funds for the 2009 – 2010 school year , or

   2. there is no holdback of state funds by the Florida Legislature for the 2009 -2010 school year, or

   3. the cumulative holdback of funds by the Florida Legislature for the 2009-2010 school year exceeds 4%.

That the changes in language of both the Instructional Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Classified Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Sarasota Classified /Teachers Association, as displayed in the enclosure, and the following salary schedules, be approved as presented. Language changes will be effective upon ratification of the contracts by the SC/TA membership and salary schedules for appointed staff will be effective July 1, 2009:
